TEGNA has an immediate opening for an Audience Engagement Producer to join the growing VERIFY team. VERIFY is a news brand dedicated to stopping the spread of misinformation and answering our audience’s questions about what’s true and false. Since being created by a group of TEGNA journalists in 2016, VERIFY has grown into a popular daily video series that airs across TEGNA’s 51 local newsrooms and digital properties. VERIFY recently launched a standalone website, social media accounts, a daily newsletter and texting service. The VERIFY team is a diverse, creative group of digital and broadcast journalists located around the country.

The Audience Engagement Producer will collaborate with a team of journalists to grow audience on VERIFY’s social media platforms, engage readers through online communication, and increase brand awareness for VERIFY’s multiplatform content, all while furthering our mission: To stop the spread of misinformation.

 

Responsibilities:

•       Produce, publish and manage VERIFY content across social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and TikTok

•  Talk directly with the audience to develop a community, field VERIFY questions and grow brand loyalty through email, social media and texting

•  Work with the audience team to produce the daily Fast Facts email and texting newsletters

•  Grow audience through targeted social media campaigns

•  Create audience awareness for special VERIFY projects through creative cross-platform promotion

•  Help track and report social analytics for the VERIFY team

•  Be on the forefront of social media/audience trends to help VERIFY reach emerging audiences in an authentic way

•  Collaborate with the larger TEGNA audience development team to develop and execute innovative community management practices and features

•  Support TEGNA stations during events that require real-time fact checking and shareable content for social media

•  Be an ambassador for the VERIFY mission to stop the spread of misinformation

Requirements:

 

•  Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or equivalent experience in the field

•  Two to three years in digital journalism, social media management or content marketing preferred

•  Strong understanding of various social platforms

•  Strong writing skills

•  Strong connection to the VERIFY fact-checking mission

•  Experience growing social media brands

•  Solid editorial and social media judgement

•  Ability to work outside of normal business hours
