Job Summary:

Are you a creative video editor who wants to help innovate local news? KHOU 11, TEGNA’s award-winning CBS affiliate in Houston, seeks a Motion Graphics Artist/Editor. This position is a six-month temporary assignment, with the possibility of becoming permanent. Candidates for this position must provide previous works demonstrating the ability to blend live-action shoots with animation, music, narration, and explainers using Maya or CINEMA 4D. Strong candidates understand how dynamic video exists on three screens (television, internet, mobile) and are prepared to edit/produce for all three. Your demo reel must include projects that you have built from scratch. Qualified candidates must be ready and able to create high-quality content quickly.

NOTE: This is a night-side position with evening hours.

 Responsibilities of the position include:

•  Creative storytelling of the highest journalistic standards.

•  Edit newscast opens, explainers, bumpers, unique content for KHOU.com, and some promotional material.

•  Blend live-action shots with stock footage, music, narration, animation, explainer diagrams, and other elements.

•  Take an idea and model/create and sketch ideas, in 2D and 3D is plus.

•  Produce pieces from start to finish with little need for outside help

•  Must have a professional demeanor and work well as a team player with the news team and staff at all times.

•  Collaborate with a veteran group of editors to develop a workflow between a Motion Graphics Artist, Editor, and producers.

•  Knowledge of professional video photography equipment and associated support equipment is a big plus.

•  Maintain and be responsible for all issued station equipment and vehicles in accordance with policy.

Requirements:

•  BA Graphic Design and Media Arts with a concentration in 3D Modeling and Animation or related multimedia design discipline or equivalent experience required.

•  Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a must. (After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere Pro)

•  High-level proficiency in compositing software. Maya, CINEMA 4D, or equivalent.

•  Knowledge of professional video photography equipment and associated support equipment is a big plus.

•  MOVI/STEADYCAM and experience with DSLR are also a plus.

•  A valid driver’s license and the ability to lift and carry 40lbs and occasionally up to 80lbs of equipment.

•  Be a creative thinker that enjoys experimenting with new technology and software products.

•  Ability to create/edit material for on-air broadcasts and digital platforms under tight deadlines.

•  Manage short-term and long-range projects.

•  Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed;

•  We put a premium on personal integrity, teamwork, accountability, problem-solving, and a strong work ethic.

Work Environment: Office

Physical Demands: Medium work

Travel: Rarely: less than 10%

Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment

Physical Demands Set: Medium work: Involves standing prolong hours, stooping, bending, lifting/pushing up to 25 lbs
