Supervisor of Technology and Operations
KING 5 Media Group in Seattle, Washington is searching for a Supervisor of Technology and Operations to join its Technology Team. The Supervisor of Technology and Operations is a leader responsible for the day-to-day management of the technical/IT support team at KING/KONG. This role will supervise staff, manage projects, and provide operational leadership to the station. This role will report to the Head of Technology.
In This Role, You Will:
- Manage the Engineering/IT staff and ensure the team delivers high-quality customer service.
- Coach and develop the team and lead hiring and performance management processes
- Assist with maintaining, upgrading and support of broadcast information technology throughout the station’s studio, transmitter, and remote facilities.
- Ensure compliance with various company policies as they relate to technical systems and software.
- Work closely with the Head of Technology to manage projects, research, and implement new technologies, and assist with budgeting for upcoming projects.
- Coordinate with local programming and commercial traffic departments in addition to the TEGNA Streaming Center.
- Other duties as directed.
Required / Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years of managing mission-critical technical environments at a TV station, production facility or related tech operation.
- Ability to work various hours and days including weekends, overnights, and holidays.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in field operations including ENG/SNG trucks, satellite, microwave, and IP news-gathering technologies as well as RF transmission systems is a plus.
- Solid understanding of current broadcast systems, network technologies, servers, desktop, monitoring, end user support and Microsoft's Active Directory environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and non-technical end users.
- Have experience with broadcast automation, graphics, editors, switchers, routers, audio consoles, etc.
- Have experience with or knowledge of Windows 2008-2019 Server and Active Directory in a complex LAN and WAN computing environment.
- Possess strong multitasking and project management skills.
- Be a self-starter and a team player. Be able to perform well under pressure and deadlines and be focused on quality customer service for internal customers.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and perform other physical tasks.
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or IT related field.
