KARE 11, TEGNA's NBC affiliate in Minneapolis, is searching for a Senior Digital Producer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a vision for what local news can be when it reaches our audience where they are and in the format they prefer.

The Senior Digital Producer is a leader in the newsroom who is responsible for quality content and audience experience on all KARE 11 digital, social and streaming platforms including content production, presentation and distribution. They help create multiple platform storytelling on all KARE 11 platforms by working with all content creators and producers. This person will be responsible for overseeing editorial tone and upholding a consistent level of quality our audience expects. They enterprise content through social listening, being plugged into the community, pitching stories and producing original
content for our audience whenever and wherever they are, on whatever device they are using at the time.

A successful candidate in this role will be a very strong writer with ample newsroom experience.

• Write and post daily on all digital platforms including social media.
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (user-generated content, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
• Coach and mentor other newsroom team members on optimizing content for digital platforms
• Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.
• Research for facts and credibility. Assess our content for balance.
• Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories.
• Use consumer analytics in determining content.
• Ensure our homepage is reflective of the most high-interest stories, featuring the most current imagery and latest information
• Assigns daily stories and updates to Digital Producers.
• Hold regular check-ins with Digital Producers as needed.
• Mentor digital team and newsroom on SEO best practices, headline optimization, mostimpactful imagery
• Collaborate with Digital Director and Executive Producer on content plans for priority events and projects
• Perform other tasks as required by Digital Director or Digital Executive Producer
• Participate in a weekend on-call rotation

• BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field
• 3-5 years of experience preferred
• Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
• Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
• Well-versed in AP Style
• Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
• Strong social media skills, on platforms to include Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
• Knowledge of Adobe Suite particularly Photoshop
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
