Tens of millions of Americans engage with TEGNA’s digital products every month and the Development group is responsible for all of it. Our team builds user facing websites, mobile apps, OTT apps, voice apps and back-end editorial tools. And while TEGNA is a large, publicly traded company, our Development and Design group runs nimble and lean – more like a startup. We are a fun group of professionals who enjoy getting things done well.

We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our team.  A successful candidate will collaborate extensively with developers to understand, scope out, and execute test cases.  This position will help define our test strategy, processes, and develop new test cases for our various platforms.

This is a full-time remote position, but highly prefer based out of Chattanooga or near a TEGNA station.


  • Define, compose, and evaluate test plans for our various products
  • Investigate, document, and appropriately escalate bugs
  • Generate test results, metrics, and status reports
  • Translate business requirements into functional tests
  • Collaborate with developers, operations, and other teams to identify requirements and strategies for testing new application features
  • Learn and absorb new technologies quickly
  • Be a strong team player and rapidly adapt to changing business and customer demands

Skills and Qualifications

  • Exceptional debugging skills and the ability to identify root causes of test failures
  • A passion for quality and software excellence
  • Proactive, analytical problem solver, capable of defect tracking through use of defect tracking tools like JIRA.
  • Possesses organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, adapt to change and prioritize work.
  • Critical thinking skills, help identify missing test cases or scenarios
