KING 5 Local Programming is looking for an imaginative, innovative and client-focused Producer to join the production team of our daytime talk show, New Day Northwest. New Day Producers work closely with the on-air talent, sales team, studio crew, and digital teams to create New Day content across platforms. The Producer reports to the Executive Producer.

In this role, the Producer will bring segments to life, driving the editorial of the show through booking guests, researching, writing, making graphics, editing video and more. The Producer has their finger on the pulse of what’s trending in everything from entertainment to wellness to local newsmakers. The ideal candidate for this role can successfully merge content with commerce, helping New Day sponsors showcase their products and services in a way that feels organic and captivates the audience. As the industry faces secular change, it will be imperative that the Producer be open to learning new skills, innovating workflows and not be afraid to fail.

 

Responsibilities:

 

•  Produce entertaining and informative segments for the show including paid segments.

•  Source, contact and book guests for the show.

•  Participate in meetings with the sales department and work one on one with clients to successfully meet their business needs, guide them toward good content decisions and coach them on best practices for TV.

•  Pre-interview all guests, research topics/guests and provide Host and staff with research materials.

•  Create show and segment graphics and edit video.

•  Write digital content, edit clips for the Web site and social media.

•  Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Innovative, visual and creative approach to bringing ideas to life in a studio-based environment and via Zoom
  • A college degree with minimum three years’ experience on a locally-produced show; five or more years’ experience preferred
  • Strong project coordination, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be a detail-oriented team player
  • Must be able to perform in high-stress, deadline driven environment
  • Basic mobile photography and video editing skills
  • Field-producing experience and video journalism skills a plus
  • Experience working with sponsors, clients and/or sales
  • Line producing/control room experience on a live or live-to-tape production preferred
