News Operations Manager

KUSA-TV, the TEGNA owned NBC affiliate in Denver, CO is seeking a News Operations Manager. The News Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining the station’s high visual standards through overseeing the video editing department and through the planning and execution of our many field productions. This position also works closely with heads of the engineering and photojournalist teams.

Pay range: $65,000 - $82,000 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise news video editing, including training, scheduling and quality control.
  • Manage newsroom media storage and playout system to ensure proper media asset management requirements are being fulfilled.
  • Ensure microwave fleet readiness, deployment logistics and training. Act as liaison with engineering for upgrades and repairs.
  • Manage TVU and Dejero field assets coordinating upgrades and training. Communicate with assignment desk on deployment and engineers on repairs.
  • Oversee news vehicle maintenance and assignments. Outfit new vehicles added to the fleet.
  • Act as liaison between newsroom and engineering staff to manage and ensure accuracy of automated caption systems.
  • Coordinate all remote production, both recurring and ad-hoc. This includes, but is not limited to sporting events, sports programs, debates and special events. Responsibilities include design, staffing and implementation.
  • Assist EPs with ENPS super-user functions and act as liaison with engineering for issue escalation.
  • Helps to determine the future direction of KUSA news operations through regular and clear communications with News Director, fellow Department Heads, senior staff leaders, and employees.
  • Complete specific projects as requested by the TV News Director.

 

Requirements:

  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Previous experience in electronic news gathering operations preferred.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, flexible shifts, and outside in varying weather conditions
  • Able to sit, utilize tools or controls; talk or hear, to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
