WTSP-TV, 10 Tampa Bay the CBS affiliate in the 11th Market, is looking for a News Coordinator. This person is multiskilled and agile when it comes to problem-solving and facilitating a fast-paced work environment. The position is primarily WFH now but will transition back to the newsroom in 2021.

The duties of this position include but are not limited to being a conduit between our general viewer emails, social messages (direct and post) and other digital outreach AND our content producing teams. This person would develop a response system under Director of Content  guidance and approval. The News Coordinator would funnel stories, comments and events to the appropriate news manager for dissemination and work to create a 100% response rate to all interactions from our community.  The News Coordinator is also responsible for valuable and needed assistance to the Director of Content. This is a support role for several administrative duties from scheduling, payroll, time card management, PTO requests, budget, expense reports, invoices.

  • Assists Director of Content in personnel related processes and paperwork.
  • Maintains Director of Content's calendar and files. 
  • Maintains staff personnel files. 
  • Assists Director of Content in contract maintenance.
    • Monitors contract outs, updates contract summary as needed.
  • Tracks monthly budget expenses; accrues as needed at direction of Director of Content.  Assists annual departmental budget.  
  • Processes/Prepares news invoices/department expense reports for news management.
  • Schedules the newsroom: processing and tracking vacation; works under news management supervision.
  • Ensures performance reviews are completed in a timely fashion.  
  • Provides clerical and administrative support for the Director of Content. 
  • Coordinates travel for Director of Content, newsroom recruiting and news coverage trips.
  • Coordinates news management and news department meetings.
  • Creates and distributes weekly news manager meeting minutes. 
  • Monitors timesheets and calculates overtime for News Department, with weekly report to Director of Content. 
  • Develops, coordinates and serves as primary point person for a social response.
  • Works with Director of Content to outline priorities for to achieve 100% response rate.
  • Disseminates appropriate information to appropriate news management for implementation and/or action.
  • Serves as digital/social ambassador and conduit with general newsroom email and social questions and comments.
  • Tracks and orders office supplies for news department.
  • Assists in processes for new-hires and on-boarding.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • College Degree preferred
