Are you a visionary news leader who understands the rich/unique/local news content that people need to start their day? The News Content Manager - Morning for KSDK, TEGNA's NBC affiliate in St. Louis (market #23), will serve as a member of the news management team and lead the production of “Today in St. Louis,” our award-winning local newscast (4:30-7am and 10-10:30am), produced with a laser focus on “new, now, next” in news, weather and traffic. Must be expert at leading a young team, training varying levels of broadcast/digital/social competence to perform at the highest level and implementing exceptional, engaging storytelling and breaking news to grow loyalty and explainers to make our viewers smarter. Works closely with the News Director and Director of Content to prioritize and set short and long-term goals. Must be a team player dedicated to continuous improvement, staff engagement and driven to perform at a superior level. The ideal candidate has great news judgment, a winning track record. You must love to lead and provide feedback to a team hungry to win. KSDK is ‘one content team’ so digital savvy is a must.
Responsibilities:
Lead teams in the creation of relevant, trending content
Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content
Work with the digital and desk teams to identify and assign content appropriately for each newscast
Encourage innovation, risk-taking and powerful storytelling in crafting great newscasts
Inspire enterprise stories and coordinate special coverage with news leadership team
Oversee multiple newscasts to ensure the brand promise and strategies are met
Regularly critique newscasts with the staff, both as a team and with individual producers
Identify daily opportunities to have our news get noticed and reach new audiences

Help create a multi-platform experience
Work collaboratively with other managers and perform tasks as required by News Director and Digital Director
Collaborate with content leaders across TEGNA to maximize the sharing of our content and to leverage innovation and best practices among stations
Hold newsroom employees accountable to TEGNA’s ethical and editorial standards

Job Requirements:
College degree in journalism, communications or related field
5+ years’ newscast producing experience, a must
2+ years newsroom leadership experience as an executive producer, assistant news director or news director, strongly preferred
Track record and commitment to innovation, thinking “outside the box”
Experience successfully leading teams through change
Strong writing and organizational skills
Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
Knowledge of ENPS, desktop editing tools, and digital content management systems, a plus
Ability to keep a cool head under constant deadline pressure
Ability to maintain a sense of humor (seriously)
Familiarity with St. Louis and/or a reason to relocate here, a plus
