We are one of the highest-rated ABC stations in America and the dominant market leader in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton/Hazleton Pennsylvania. The TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate is currently seeking candidates to fill a rare opening as our Director of Marketing.
Our Marketing Director will oversee all aspects of creative marketing for the brand, commercial production, promotional on-air spots, off-channel multiplatform creative, print collateral, social media assets, set redesigns, internal branding, external branding and client presentations.
The ideal candidate will be inherently creative, curious and be the creative eyes and ears of the station ensuring cohesion, collaboration, consistency, and audience appeal always. Our Marketing Director will be a member of the station leadership team and report directly to the President and General Manager.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pushing the boundaries of the station’s audience, revenue and brand potential by serving as a collaborative business partner to the station’s leadership team and playing a key role in the integrated marketing planning and budgeting process.
- Creation of compelling, multiplatform, original station image, news & entertainment programming, commercial campaigns and when necessary, execution of all visual elements personally.
- Proactively creating opportunities for audiences to connect with our content by developing annual and quarterly strategic plans, prioritizing key marketing messages and generating breakthrough concepts and strategies.
- Acting as a collaborative architect for all touchpoints between the station and its audiences.
- Staying abreast of cutting-edge tools, promotion trends and campaigns.
- Collaborating on a regular basis with station’s news director, director of digital content, director of sales and general manager.
- Supporting local sales efforts to generate non-traditional revenue dollars.
- Creating, implementing and owning the strategic plan and budget for your department.
IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS FOR SUCCESS
- 5-8 years' minimum experience in the Media or Broadcast industry
- A leader who is a bold thinker/innovator; acts as a creative force with unbridled enthusiasm for growing a thriving and relevant business.
- A positive get-it-done attitude that persists regardless of obstacles and fosters collaboration and input from the team as a whole.
- Can easily manage the creative process and facilitate brainstorming, remaining always open to the ideas of the others.
- Competitive mindset: has aggressively competed and WON with a results story to prove it!
- Ability to optimize data and input. Resilient and adaptive, willing to change plans or re-prioritize based on learnings and feedback.
- Effective communicator who is able to present and justify thoughts, ideas and decisions in a clear, concise, and appropriate manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and knows how to tailor all communications to the audience for which it is intended.
