Executive Producer
JOB DESCRIPTION
WUSA9 in Washington, DC is looking for a passionate, ambitious, aggressive, and creative newsroom leader to join our team.
We want an Executive Producer who will “Inform, Inspire and Impact,” our content, our colleagues, and our audiences on all platforms.
You’ll work with a group of people committed to doing work that is smart and insightful.
Together, we’ll study the research and innovate our formats and presentations to reach new viewers.
Our ideal candidate is a creative problem solver with strong journalistic judgment and a desire to elevate products and mentor people.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver news on all platforms in an engaging and accurate manner
- Oversee newsroom ideation and execution of content to ensure brand promise and strategies are met
- Review rundowns and scripts with legal and ethical lenses.
- Encourage innovation, risk-taking and powerful storytelling in crafting great newscasts
- Coordinate special coverage with newsroom leadership
- Work collaboratively with the assignment desk to ensure we are aggressively pursuing breaking news
- Critique newscasts and provide feedback to team
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years newsroom leadership experience preferred as an EP, assistant news director, or news director
- Experience successfully leading teams through content transformation
- Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
- Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, photojournalism, editing, and content management systems a plus
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
- BA/BS in journalism, communications or related a plus
