TEGNA is looking for a motivated, innovative leader to oversee all aspects of the creation and management of a new slate of sports programming in Dallas.  The Executive Producer, Sports will report to TEGNA’s Chief Digital Officer and collaborate closely with WFAA and Locked On Podcast Network, the leading local sports podcast network for all “Big 4” professional sports leagues and major college programs.  This person will oversee the hiring and management of on-air talent and production staff, with the goal of creating 2-3 hours per weekday of original sports programming, as well as curating content from WFAA and Locked On as part of a robust new streaming experience built around Dallas sports. 


  • Set and communicate the creative vision for the programming to the team and other stakeholders at TEGNA. 
  • Oversee the day to day production of sports-focused programming for a local sports streaming service, as well as simulcasts for audio/podcast distribution.
  • Recruiting and managing on-air talent and production support staff associated with the new programming, as well as curating relevant content from TEGNA properties.
  • Owning the consumer experience for a new Dallas local sports streaming service, ensuring content is timely, well organized and optimized for digital distribution.
  • Working with talent to develop build show rundowns, provide feedback on presentation,  book guests and ensure timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with TEGNA corporate stakeholders, Locked On Podcast Network, and WFAA to maximize opportunities for sharing content and growing audience.
  • Utilize analytics and data to track success of the programming and inform evolution of the product.
  • Inspire the team to innovate, take risks and create unique sports talk programming that stands out.



  • Experience successfully producing sports programming for television, radio and/or podcasts
  • Passion for sports and understanding the topics that fans care about
  • Understanding of digital metrics and analytics
  • Knowledge of Dallas / North Texas sports a plus
  • Passion and vision for emerging media
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
  • BA/BS in journalism, communications or related a plus 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with and manage on-air talent
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
