KXTV/ABC10, a TEGNA company in Sacramento, is looking for a part-time Engagement Producer to support our efforts in answering questions from our audience. Through our Dollars and Sense coverage, ABC10 has become a leader in connecting Californians with the latest information about how to get their unemployment benefits processed. We are looking to keep that going and expand into other topic areas. The producer will focus on engaging with our audience and creating digital content based on their needs.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Exercise strong news judgment that represents the ABC10 “We Stand For You” brand and Tegna principles
  • Monitor and respond to viewer text messages, email and phone calls
  • Strong knowledge of current events, including California's EDD troubles and coronavirus vaccine distribution
  • Efficiently scour the Internet, including, NextDoor, local Facebook groups, Reddit threads, Twitter and Crowdtangle, for important or impactful stories our audience cares about
  • Help with monitoring text messages, e-mails and adding story tips to the daily planner
  • Be knowledgeable of state and local governmental operations
  • Write and post stories to all our online Digital-Mobile-Social platforms


  • BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field
  • 1 year of professional work experience in journalism or related field
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
  • High standard of professionalism and accuracy
  • Flexibility in work schedule and able to work nights, weekends and holidays
