Editor/Photojournalist
JOB DESCRIPTION
13News Now, the TEGNA owned ABC affiliate in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA has an immediate opening for an experienced, energetic Editor/Photojournalist. This position works closely with producers, photojournalist, and reporting staff in the newsroom. Candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills; must work well under pressure, within a team environment and have the ability to think outside-the-box when it comes to creating motion graphics, animations and editing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Edit news and feature stories, voiceovers, teases and other video elements for live shows and pre-taped specials as needed.
• Preferred design and animations skills. Candidate must have the ability to generate graphics for reporters, newscast for daily turns or pre-taped elements.
• Ability to multi-task, handling editing assignments, capturing feeds and sending and receiving material to and from multiple TEGNA stations, while constantly monitoring quality control.
• Perform other production duties as assigned.
• Maintain standard of brand excellence as a photojournalist by shooting NPPA style, award-winning video with composition, clean audio, use of light, and steadiness.
• Ability to cover breaking, general, sports, feature, investigative, and political news stories.
• Use various lighting techniques and equipment to enhance on-air product and visual presentation.
• Work regularly as a storyteller collaborating with reporters and producers to execute creative concept for story.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Strong skills in Edius
Adobe products preferred (Photoshop, Illustrator), After Effects, Cinema 4D
• Knowledge of motion/animation, typography, color, audio, composition and imagery
• Must be team oriented, have a positive attitude, possess good computer skills and strong communication skills. Strong spelling and grammar skills.
• Broadcast experience required
• Able to perform under very tight deadlines; ability to multitask and prioritize multiple needs simultaneously.
• Able to react to change productively
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including holidays, evenings, weekends and occasional overtime.
• Ability to determine good audio and picture quality; ability to edit with continuity and creativity on non-linear systems.
• Experience in photojournalism, editing, and microwave/satellite truck operations.
• Proven ability to shoot eye-catching, content-driven live shots and packages.
