KVUE in Austin, Texas, is looking for a Digital Desk Editor to join our digital desk team. The Digital Desk Editor is responsible for discovering, researching, creating, and distributing digital content for all platforms. We need a team-player who knows AP style, copyediting and is capable of producing original written and video content for KVUE. The right candidate will also be trained to listen to police scanners and manage newsgathering and other desk duties. 


  • Responsible for discovering, researching, creating and distributing digital content for all platforms 
  • Social listening: Monitor social chatter and track trending stories via Chartbeat, CrowdTangle, Google Trends and our social platforms. Communicate to newsroom 
  • Produce audience-first, engaging storytelling through digital articles, videos, photo galleries, social media, notifications, live streams and interactive elements 
  • Creates and publishes video to and YouTube channel. Must be skilled with video and graphic production 
  • Coordinates newsgathering operations including managing the digital and TV assignments 
  • Liaison between the station and other news outlets/public officials / closed captioning 
  • Contribute to and maintain a coverage calendar to keep track of upcoming events or news items 
  • Contributes to editorial meetings 
  • Track competition’s newscasts, push alerts and website content 


  • Applicants must have a bachelors’ degree in Journalism or related field 
  • Applicants must have previous experience writing news content for the web and will be expected to turn in a portfolio of previous digital news writing work upon request 
  • Applicants must pass a writing and copyediting test 
  • Applicants must have some baseline familiarity with the tools of modern newsgathering – newsroom computer systems (ENPS/iNews), CMS, TVUs, etc. 
  • Two years of experience working as a digital producer or digital journalist preferred
