Digital Content Producer
KWES- TV NewsWest 9 is looking for a digital content producer to join our outstanding digital-first team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves news and working on the cutting edge of digital and social media. This position will produce original content for NewsWest 9 that will reach our audience whenever and wherever they are, on whatever device they are using at the time. They will also manage content produced by others, including copy editing, for our various digital platforms.
The successful candidate is innovative with solid news judgment. Qualified candidates will have experience producing content for digital platforms, working knowledge of online CMS software, video and photo-editing skills and the ability to work a flexible schedule. The person we hire must want to be part of a team that is focused on the audience in everything they do.
Responsibilities:
- Produce digital content (including enterprise content) for all NewsWest 9 platforms, including desktop, mobile, app and social
- Report news as it happens online (proven breaking news skills) and generate digital traffic through strategic content distribution
- Utilize social media communities to discover unique original local content
- Work with all newsroom departments on content coverage and distribution
- Identify compelling, unique stories and user-generated content of interest to our audience
- Use metrics to make content priority and placement decisions
- Utilize web and social metrics, search engine optimization best practices and content distribution skills to grow digital audiences
- Create original video for digital and social platforms using available tools
- This position will include weekend and evening work
Qualifications
- Two years experience as a digital producer preferred but will consider entry level
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage requests from various sources with an ability to work well with varied personalities within deadlines
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and time-management
