AM Weekday Anchor
KVUE in Austin is looking for an experienced journalist and anchor to join Daybreak, the Emmy-award winning morning show. In this role, the anchor will join a dynamic team with incredible chemistry.
We need someone who understands what an honor it is to have viewers start their day with us. Someone who realizes that the morning news is as much about delivering the headlines they need to start their day, as a smile. Authenticity plays a huge role in relating to the audience and your fellow team members.
Austin is one of the most-desirable places in the country to live. The city’s growth continues at an explosive growth. That contributes to a host of challenges that our audience wants to be navigated through.
A successful candidate will have or foster a strong social media presence to engage with the audience. They will also have strong writing skills and comfort on camera.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib
- Strong social media skills, including an active presence on Twitter and Facebook and a keen eye toward what's trending locally and nationally.
- Develop original content through independent sources and social listening
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
- You will be expected to take a leadership role in the broadcasts, assisting with the show's execution and writing.
- Community and promotional appearances will also be a part of your job duties.
- Minimum 5-7 years news anchor/reporter experience
- Texas/regional knowledge is a plus
- Journalism and/or Mass Communications degree preferred
- A portfolio with examples of strong breaking, general, and feature news anchoring and reporting
